Tell us your name, and a native Japanese speaker will write it in katakana or hiragana by its pronunciation. You receive your hanko in 4 designs as high-quality digital files, ready for cards, notebooks, gift tags, social media and more.

Choose your script

• Katakana – the script used in Japan for foreign names (e.g. Sofia → ソフィア)
• Hiragana – softer, rounder letters (e.g. Sofia → そふぃあ)
• Both – katakana and hiragana versions at a set price

How it works

1. Choose Katakana, Hiragana or Both.
2. Type your name and how you pronounce it in the box above the "Add to cart" button (e.g. "Sophie – so-FEE"), then place your order.
3. We email you a preview of all 4 designs so you can check the spelling.
4. Once you approve, we email you your ZIP file.

Long names are welcome: names with 5 or more characters are set in two columns, read from right to left, just like a real Japanese hanko.

Note: Names with "V" (ヴ) can also be written with "B" sounds in the hiragana version (e.g. ゔぃ → び) – just tell us which you prefer.

Good to know

• This is a digital product – nothing is shipped.
• Names are written by pronunciation in kana. We do not create kanji names.
• This is a decorative design for personal use, not an official registered seal (jitsuin / ginkoin) and cannot be used for legal or banking purposes.
• Because each hanko is made for you personally, we cannot offer refunds once your files are delivered. If something isn't right, please tell us – we're happy to fix it!
